After World War II ended, the Office of Strategic Services was reformed and split into two branches; the CIA and Task Force X. Task Force X was made up two divisions; Argent and the Suicide Squad. Argent conducted covert operations exclusive to America. After the 1951 House of Un-American Activities Committee proceeding, that ended with the disbandment of the Justice Society of America, Argent was called in to oppose the threat of subversives such as communists, terrorists, super villains and super heroes.
King Faraday was plucked from the Air Force and put in charge of Argent. Under his command, they captured Vandal Savage, the Atom, Hourman and Captain Cold. Under a joint mission with Ferris Aircraft, Argent participated in Operation Flying Cloud. It was designed to leapfrog ahead of current space agencies and land on Mars.
