Born in the south side of Chicago, King Faraday was given his name so he'd be "King for a day." Faraday joined the Air Force and went onto serve in World War II and was renowned for his strategic prowess.
During the war, he was recruited to a special ops strike force by the OSS. After the war ended, the OSS was reformed into the CIA and Task Force X. Faraday joined Task Force X and headed the Argent division. Argent primarily dealt with covert operations to round up communists, terrorists and costumed individuals. In a short manner of time, they rounded up Vandal Savage, Captain Cold, the Atom and Hourman.
Faraday believed his intentions were sincere and was doing the right thing for the greater good. Hopefully, his work would lead to a world that never required these morally gray decisions. Task Force X was attached to Ferris Aircraft, a private firm chosen to be the cover for an operation to leapfrog ahead in space travel. Faraday enforced a secret protocol to arm the test rocket with three warheads: viral, nerve and hydrogen. There was the fear that the Martians were a threat.
During the rocket launch in 1958, the Martian Manhunter (who eluded Faraday for three years) attempted to stow away. Faraday noticed the Manhunter onscreen and confronted him. The Manhunter saved Faraday's life and the two ultimately bonded. During the battle against the Centre, Faraday sacrificed himself and prompted the Martian Manhunter to fight on.
