Steve Lombard a former star player of the Metropolis High School Hamsters football team and is considered the school's greatest quarterback of all time. The school's football field was later named after him. Lombard also came out with a new shoe line, that included a pair of limited edition trainers called the Lombard XLX. Hal Jordan considered Lombard his favorite player ever. At the end of the state title game, Lombard presented Barbara Gordon's gift to Hal Jordan, a pair of XLXs. Jordan was stunned on both counts.
