The Joker is the infamous adversary of Batman. He was "born" after falling into a vat in the Ace Chemical Plant on Third in Gotham City. Fictional battles between the two are often portrayed on limited edition comic books. There is even a game inspired by the Joker on the Metropolis Pier. During an Annual Convention for Gotham City Enthusiasts, the actual steamroller used by the Joker in his infamous 'Crushing Christmas Caper' was on display. Harley Quinn, stole the Joker's steam roller, and charged at Robin. It turned out she only ran over a cardboard cut out used for selfies. Later in the day, Harley threw a bomb in a vault but realized it was the actual vault used by the Joker in his infamous 'Breakin' the Bank' Caper. She ran off with the bomb and threw it until it was eventually disabled. In a battle between Batman and Joker, he sliced one of the ears off Batman's cowl. It ended up on the black market then in Harley Quinn's possession.
The Joker broke out of Arkham Reform School on Halloween and left one of his jack-in-a-box contraptions behind in his cell after he blew the door off its hinges. An Arkham guard discovered it, radioed security, and cranked the jack-in-a-box, releasing balloons and his Joker toxin gas. He watched from atop a tower nearby and laughed manically. Joker planned to give Gotham the scariest Halloween ever then blow it up so no one would ever surprass his feat. Taking the Super Hero Girls into account, he devised a plan to trick them into unleashing Solomon Grundy, Gentleman Ghost, and She-Bat. He called Batgirl's emergency line and posed as Batman then told her the Joker escaped from Arkham and was planning to give Gotham the scariest Halloween ever by stealing the family fortune from the last living Craddock, causing a black out by bombing Slaughter Swamp and its underground power junction, and raiding the S.T.A.R. Labs Chemical vault to make enough Joker toxin to blanket the whole city. He got ahold of Harley Quinn on her phone and invited her to join him. She agreed to.
They met up at S.T.A.R. Labs, bound Dr. Francine Langstrom as a decoy, and stole an explosive called the Fractal Obliterator. Upon making their exit, they encountered Wonder Woman and Batgirl. The Joker stepped out and remarked they were the "playmates" Harley told him all about. Batgirl was excited at first then channeled Batman. Joker admitted he didn't speak "Bat" even after all this time. Wonder Woman had enough and told him to prepare for battle. He sat on the rail back-to-back with Harley and told them he got anxious around new people and liked to have an out prepared in case a conversation hit an awkward low. He presented a remote control decorated in a clown motif. The doors of a room slid open and revealed Langstrom. She tried to tell them something. Joker mused goodbyes were hard and imitated Batman. Batgirl realized Joker was the one who called her emergency line. He quipped he could speak "Bat" after all. Harley marveled at his talent and they left in a blimp in his image.
They flew to Craddock Manor and recruited Gentleman Ghost after he was mistakenly freed by Green Lantern, Zatanna, and Victoria Craddock, picked up Solomon Grundy at Slaughter Swamp who was awakened by Supergirl and Bumblebee, then returned to S.T.A.R. Labs and blasted a set of speakers to attract Langstrom, now mutated into She-Bat. Mayor Borg presided over the Big Pumpkin Drop at Wayne Tower. He started the countdown from ten. From a nearby building, the Joker implored Solomon Grundy, Gentleman Ghost, and She-Bat to go have some fun. Before Borg could push down the plunger and send the Big Pumpkin down to the streets, She-Bat dropped off Joker and Harley Quinn. They tied him up and took over the airwaves. Gotham Square was soon in flames. Joker proclaimed he delivered the scariest Halloween of all time just like he promised. Harley congratulated him. He told her it was nothing and he would do anything for his number one gal. She was elated. The Super Hero Girls landed on the roof. Wonder Woman and Batgirl took the clowns while the others went after the other villains.
Joker stepped forward but before he could finish his punchline, Wonder Woman punched him and he lost a tooth. She declared she did not suffer fools and punched him again. Wonder Woman gut punched Joker off his feet then kicked him. He laughed and stood up. She didn't understand how he could laugh in defeat. He retorted this was just phase one. He unleashed gas from his lapel flower. She was temporarily paralyzed and could not move. Harley joined him at the end of the roof. He revealed his concern about an upstart outdoing his stunt in 100 years so he was going to prevent that from happening by destroying Gotham. He revealed he affixed the Fractal Obliterator they stole from S.T.A.R. Labs onto the Big Pumpkin and when it dropped, the Obliterator would be triggered. Harley was surprised he was going to destroy the city. He revealed she was and presented the plunger. She gave him an awkward thumbs up.
Joker went back up into his blimp and warned Harley she would have ten seconds once the Pumpkin touched its base. She eventually pushed the plunger down then returned to the blimp. Joker was unaware she had flipped the disarm switch on the sly which prevented the pumpkin from touching its base and setting off the Obliterator. The Joker and Harley laughed in the blimp. Harley paused and frowned then smiled.
