Deadshot is an assassin for hire forcefully conscripted into Task Force X, a black ops government unit comprised of super criminals who work off their sentences by taking on missions with the lowest success rates. The Task Force was dispatched to the Gotham Zoo to retrieve their AWOL teammate, Killer Croc. They found him with Harley Quinn and demanded Croc to come with them. Harley pretended to be a hostage and drop kicked Captain Boomerang. Colonel Flag ordered Deadshot to capture Croc without killing him after he woke up Boomerang. Deadshot pointed out he only had live rounds. Flag suggested being creative and proving he wasn't just a mindless killer. Croc hid in a grove of trees but he was still wearing the pink hoodie Harley gave him to wear as a disguise. Deadshot relished it and shot a branch. It fell and knocked Croc out. Harley arrived and checked his pulse. Flag shot a tranquilizer dart into her neck. They speculated why Harley was meeting with Croc. Croc claimed he just wanted a day off.

Deadshot had him dead to sights but Croc pointed out he wouldn't fire unless Colonel Flag ordered him, too, and he was too soft. Harley caught up to them but Deadshot shot her handbag. She kicked him in the face and realized the stolen gem inside was shattered to pieces. Harley was annoyed and declared she had to stop trying to do the right thing.
