The Spinal Station is a device used by Brainiac to process and sort the knowledge of over seven octodecillion beings. Brainiac rarely left his station and stole knowledge for centuries. While stealing Metropolis, Brainiac placed Superman into the Spinal Station and attempted to overwhelm his brain with knowledge. Superman survived and came to realize how sanitized Brainiac's "bottled" knowledge was. He broke free and shattered the station.
