Dr. Erdel was considered an eccentric in the scientific community for his obsession with alien life. Residing in Gotham City, Erdel sent a out a radio signal in 1955. He hoped to successfully send and receive the signal. Instead, he transported a Martian lifeform to Earth. Erdel suffered a heart attack from the shock. Before he died, Erdel apologized and warned the Martian about his race.
