In the late 18th century, an area near Virginia and Maryland was chosen to be the federal national capital. It would be in no state and serve as a federal district. It was named Washington DC, after the first President, George Washington, and the country's discoverer, Christopher Columbus. DC became the headquarters the of three branches of the federal government, federal agencies and international organizations.
Following the defeat of the Centre, the Flash was officially recognized by the President and a formal ceremony followed at the White House.
