Argo City, colony of Krypton, survived the fateful implosion and drifted into space. When pieces of Kryptonite began to kill Argonians, Zor-El sent his daughter Kara to Earth to live with her cousin, Kal-El.
Knowing that Kal-El wouldn't recognize her, Kara's parents dressed her in a costume based on Superman's. On Earth, she met Superman and took the alias of Linda Lee and cover story of being an orphan from Midvale Orphange. To help conceal her identity, while posing as Linda Lee, Kara wears a brunette wig and hides her blonde hair. After Linda Lee was adopted by Fred and Edna Danvers, Superman decided to allow her to perform as Supergirl.
