Real Identity: Kent Nelson

In 1940, American archaeologist, Sven Nelson and his son, Kent, went to a dig at the Ur Valley in Mesopotamia. Sven Nelson opened a tomb and was killed when a poisonous gas was released from it. The occupant of the tomb, Nabu was reawakened. Nabu was a wizard who fought the forces of Chaos. He took pity on the young Kent Nelson and trained him in the art of sorcery. Nelson was transformed into an adult and given an amulet, helmet and cloak; all magical talismans that would aid Nelson.
Nelson returned to America and settled down in an invisible tower located in Salem, Massachusetts. On his first adventure as Dr. Fate, he encountered the evil wizard, Wotan and rescued Inza Cramer. Nelson and Cramer fell in love and married. Soon after, Fate joined the Justice Society of America. After the McCarthy hearings, Fate left this plane of existence to face supernatural evil elsewhere.
