S.T.A.R. Labs is a private research firm dedicated to the study and advancement of every field of science. Early in her career, Harleen Quinzel studied behavioral zoology at S.T.A.R. Labs. She befriended a chimpanzee named Titano who was selected for space flights. She was the only one who could calm him down and they bonded. S.T.A.R. eventually launched Titano in a rocket but it collided with a Kryptonite meteor. Years later, Lex Luthor attacked the Metropolis branch and made his way to a sealed vault while police shot at him in vain. Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman responded. Luthor was disappointed Batman showed up but Wonder Woman quickly kicked him into a wall. Luthor fired his shoulder cannon at the ceiling. While she was distracted with saving people trapped in the room, Luthor flew out of S.T.A.R. Labs but Superman was waiting. He flew prey to Luthor's plans and was infected with nanobots. After Calculator hacked and stole Mr. Terrific's T-Spheres, Terrific and Firestorm relocated to S.T.A.R. Labs.

Terrific was unable to track down his spheres with the technology present. Professor Stein sniped his S-Cubes would have been impossible to cloak. Firestorm was clueless and learned Stein and Terrific worked on similar concepts independently during college but Stein accused him of stealing his idea. Calculator used the spheres to trigger a city-wide blackout as part of his plans. Lex Luthor broke into S.T.A.R. Labs after he heard about a prototype pulse regulator. He told a group of scientists they should be honored then flew off with the regulator. He disassembled it and removed the Quantum Battery, a component he planned to use to intensify his Kryptonite Radiation Emitter. S.T.A.R. Labs attainted one of the only remains of Krypton that didn't turn into Kryptonite, a prism. After escaping from the Phantom Zone during a series on explosions on the Sun's surface, Zod powered up and flew back to Metropolis. He used his heat vision to cut a hole on the side of S.T.A.R. Labs and stole the Kryptonian Prism from its case.

Faora and Quex-Ul demanded to be freed. Superman arrived and Zod threw a piece of floor at him then caused some debris to rain down. Wonder Woman snagged his left leg with the Lasso of Truth but he simply knocked her into a wall. Batman attempted to use the Phantom Zone Projector on him but Zod placed the prism in the beam's path. They were unaware Zod was rendered intangible and confiscated the prism. During one of Darkseid's simulations in a pocket dimension, a robot duplicate of Batman ordered his comrades to meet with him at S.T.A.R. Labs. He performed an analysis on Cyborg and determined he was a robot then removed his face plate. They all verified they were robots, too. Parademons stormed the building to retrieve the robots for reprogramming. To make matters worse, their programming prevented them from directly attacking the Parademons. Batman threw down a smoke bomb and the robots fled into the streets. Lex Luthor, in his new time suit, battled the Justice League outside S.T.A.R. Labs.

Lex Luthor used the powers of his Time Suit to stop time around two armed guards posted outside S.T.A.R. Labs then Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Hawkman, and Cyborg arrived. He rapidly aged Cyborg and stopped time around the others then erected a time-wall around the property. Luthor stopped time inside, as well, and took control of S.T.A.R. Labs' satellites then used them to gain access to other satellite systems. Flash presumed he was piggybacking into every missile system in the world starting with America's. Flash attempted to vibrate his molecules through the time-wall but he didn't have enough power. Batman arrived and explained how their energy was used to power the Time Suit then finished a program designed to send the energy signal from Superman's Hero Tracker into Flash's. With the added power of Superman's Speed Force, Flash was able to get through the time-wall. Flash confronted Luthor just after he started a 15 second countdown. Flash vibrated his right hand free and cancelled the countdown then laid an uppercut into Luthor. The suit lost power and those affected by it were restored to normal.

On Christmas Eve, Plastic Man was tasked by Green Arrow to return Solomon Grundy to his cell at S.T.A.R. Labs. He realized S.T.A.R. was in the middle of their Christmas party and didn't want to make a scene so he brought Grundy with him to Arrow's party. Before he left, Plastic Man noticed a peppermint chocolate fountain and Santa Claus was present, but he suspected it was Professor Hamilton in a disguise. Arrow was not pleased to learn they scheduled their party the same night as his. After Grundy apologized to a girl he scared named Keely Miller, the Leaguers present opted to head to S.T.A.R.'s party two blocks away and walked Grundy there.
