The Red Sun Energy Blaster is a weapon kept by Lobo specifically for any battles with Superman as the radiation from a red sun is one of his few weaknesses. While in the middle of transporting Mister Mind to the Watchtower to carry out his prison sentence, Superman took a shot from the Red Sun Energy Blaster. His powers were drained and he crashed into the backseat of a Space Cab. Space Cabbie took evasive action and drove into an asteroid field.
