Gold Kryptonite is a variant that causes amnesia when exposed to Superman. While trying to transmutate Metallo's Green Kryptonite power source into lead, Firestorm couldn't remember the exact chemical formula and changed it into Red Kryptonite then Gold. Locked in hands with Metallo, Superman suddenly forgot where was and who he was. Metallo decked him with a right cross. Firestorm tried again but turned it into a Black Kryptonite.
