The Black Orb is a device used by Black Adam to capture the power of Shazam after Billy Batson summoned it. Unable to transform, Batson was powerless and Adam stole the Wizard's throne on the Rock of Eternity. The Wizard returned to the Rock with Batman. Both attempted to reach the Orb above the throne and break it but Adam saw Batman's reflection. The Wizard instructed Batson to summon his power. He just needed the strength of mind. After a few attempts, Batson was able to shatter the Orb. The lightning was released and Batson transformed into Shazam. Black Adam was defeated soon after.
