Hal Jordan is one of the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic police force that uses power rings to generate constructs of anything they can imagine, and a member of the Justice League. He helped assemble the League's newest base, the Watchtower. Green Lantern was in another galaxy during the attack on the Hudson Nuclear Power Plant on Earth. Green Lantern attended a monthly meeting at the Watchtower that was interrupted by the arrival of an android named Amazo who was bent on destroying the Justice League after he took their powers. The Flash attacked first but Amazo copied his super speed, punched him repeatedly, then tossed him into Lantern. Amazo pushed Lantern's pincer construct away then Martian Manhunter and Batman attacked. Amazo copied Manhunter's powers then shapeshifted the lower half of his body into something more serpentine. Lantern flew at him ant swung an axe construct. Amazo dodged and swatted him into the elevator tower. He scanned Lantern and duplicated his power ring. Amazo imprisoned the Leaguers but they were saved by Bizarro. Green Lantern encased Amazo in a cube construct then departed the Watchtower with him.

Green Lantern battled Sinestro in space but noticed he was stronger than usual. He dodged several giant arrow constructs fired at him. Sinestro mocked him, saying prudence, intellect, and strategy were never his strong suit. Lantern fired a rocket construct but Sinestro made a giant monster construct and it swallowed the rocket. Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Atom made contact with Lantern. Sinestro's construct found him. He cut away its tentacles with a giant scissors but was grabbed. Sinestro asked him what he had possibly had left to fight with. Green Lantern listed a charming personality, a great haircuit, and abs so good you could wash your clothes on them. Sinestro was irritated. He swung a giant mace repeatedly. Lantern raised a dome but his ring was running out of energy. Superman intervened before he could deliver the finishing blow. He and Wonder Woman kept Sinestro distracted while Atom landed Justice-1. Green Lantern came aboard and recharged off his Green Lantern Power Battery.

Atom inquired why Sinestro didn't need a recharge, too. Lantern shared his concern. Atom volunteered to go into the ring and find out. Lantern formed a sphere around Atom then fired him right at Sinestro's ring with a giant crossbow construct. Atom was subjected to the ring's fear manipulating properties and relieved his worst fears. Lantern retained contact with him over comms and informed him of the ring's ability but Atom found everything so real. Atom thought he was shrinking uncontrollably but Lantern advised him to calm down and relax. Atom heeded his words and found himself on the ring's terrain. Atom sighted a Yellow Lantern Battery then described a giant spider mushroom thing with a ring inside it. Lantern realized it was Despotellis and told Atom to run. They believed Atom was crushed and tried to fight on. Sinestro made a giant multi-armed construct of himself and grabbed Lantern. Atom survived certain death and subdued Despotellis by changing its chemical makeup. Sinestro was rendered powerless.

Green Lantern quickly made tracks and a speeding train construct that rammed Sinestro into an asteroid. Atom hailed Lantern and asked for some oxygen. Lantern formed a dome around the asteroid. Atom emerged from the ring with Despotellis in a petri dish. Lantern made a microscope then took a look. He thought Despotellis looked more like a crab fungus. Green Lantern volunteered for a charity race between Superman and the Flash by first using his ring to simulate fireworks for the opening festivities then he started off the race by firing off a giant pistol contruct. Green Lantern, Hawkman, Wonder Woman, and Cyborg later confronted Lex Luthor outside S.T.A.R. Labs. Lantern projected a fist construct but Luthor used his Time Suit to freeze him in place. After Flash defeated Luthor, Lantern was restored to normal and fell to the ground.

Green Lantern got into a major battle with Kanjar Ro and his gang in space. Jordan took a few hits and lost consciousness briefly. Batman eventually made contact with him. Unwilling to sound like a lightweight to him, Jordan put on a false front that he was okay. Jordan went to a Robo-Gas to get his bearings. He took off his power ring and washed his face in the rest room. A Two-Headed Babajorian and Lobo happened to be in the men's room, too. After stepping outside, Jordan tried to fly and fell on the ground. He summoned his power ring but nothing happened. He ran back inside the rest room and the ring was gone. He suspected Lobo first and watched him launch from a gas tank on his Space Hog. Jordan ran to the Space Cab and ordered Space Cabbie to follow Lobo. He drove off with the hose still in and snapped part of it off. He wanted Cabbie to go faster but Cabbie was already exceeding the space speed limit. Cabbie's new galactic positioning system extrapolated Lobo's destination, plotted an intercept course, and opened a wormhole.

Lantern leaped from the can, bounced off some asteroids, and managed to clutch the backseat of the Spacehog. He demanded his ring but Lobo claimed he had no idea what he was talking about. He snapped and punched Lobo several times. Lobo grabbed him by the collar but he improvised and kicked the throttle. Lobo clamped onto Spacehog with his chain and demanded he pull up. Lantern took the Spacehog to 15 Gs and forced Lobo to pass out. Lobo didn't have the ring. Without admitting what was going on, Lantern tipped off Batman about Lobo's location. Batman discovered he was wanted for multiple offenses but inquired why he didn't take Lobo in himself. Lantern imitated interference and signed off. Cabbie tried to instill his grandmother's advice about not judging by appearances but Jordan decided the Babajorian had his ring. He had Cabbie take the fastest route back. The GPS revealed it was through an unstable wormhole. The cab barely survived the ordeal and teleported to the Robo-Gas a wreck.

Lantern's Life Support Belt turned off in the ordeal and he struggeld to breath. Cabbie tapped the belt back on. He mistook the Babajorian's lower head for a choking baby and reached down its throat for the ring. The Two-Headed Babajorian was outraged and used strong profanity in its alien language. The upper head spit flames at Lantern, who took cover. Cabbie did a quick search on the Babajorian and his navigational system loosely translated between it and Lantern. Lantern asked the GPS to apologize on his behalf but Cabbie interjected and told it to say the Green Lantern attacked because he was clearly the deadliest warrior present but proved no match for his deadly power. The Babajorian scoffed but stopped its assault. Cabbie quickly told Lantern to prostrate himself or the Babajorian would continue attacking until the asteroid they were on was dust. Jordan complied. The lower head spoke and stuck out its tongue, which looked like a baby's rattle then he left.

Lantern realized the ring probably fell down the drain but his Life Support Belt was about to run out of power. The green energy of the ring infected a lifeform living in the drain that descended from a hairball. It rapidly expanded in size and lashed out at Lantern and Cabbie. The belt died out. Rather than prejudge and attack again, Lantern realized it was just scared and reached in its mass to retrieve his ring. Jordan was restored into a Green Lantern and the Hairball returned to normal. The Hairball hopped off Jordan's hand and went back down the drain. Cabbie took a photo with Jordan for his collection then called the ordeal on the house. He offered a ride but Jordan declined and decided to do some flying. The navigational system recognized something familiar about him and admitted it was a disembodied artificial intelligence with no memory of its origin. Cabbie invited it to say with him in the cab but it felt compelled to search for something or someone.

The navigational system morphed into a sphere, declared it wouldn't give up hope like the Green Lantern, and took off. Undaunted, Cabbie departed the Robo-Gas, too. Green Lantern hailed Batman to inform him he was on his way back to the Watchtower. Batman noted Lobo told him about the missing ring. Lantern pretended there was interference again. He bemoaned Batman was never going to let him live it down.
