Ron Troupe is a reporter at the Daily Planet. The editor-in-chief, Perry White, went on spring vacation and left Ron Troupe in charge until he returned. As Batgirl, Bumblebee, Ivy, and Lane stepped outside S.T.A.R. Labs following their response to the thirteenth floor explosion, Mayor Sackett greeted them with Ron Troupe and Jimmy Olsen from the Daily Planet. He wanted a photo op but was surprised Lane was with them. Batgirl stated she was with them. Sackett replied a friend of his favorite super heroes was a friend of his. He asked Lane to scoot over. Lane was annoyed Troupe was covering the story. Troupe noted it seemed only appropriate that all reporters were given equal access to a story. The Daily Planet published an article quoting Sackett saying it was just an explosion drill. Lane brought her story about S.T.A.R. manufacturing superpowers to Troupe. He was impressed and knew it could be really explosive for the story.

Plastique arrived. Troupe implored her to call the tip line and set up an interview if she had a lead. Plastique announced she was taking everyone hostage and making them publish a story about how she was tricked and had a super power foisted upon her. She used her explosive powers. Troupe hid behind his desk. After it was resolved, Perry White happened to return. Troupe took full responsibility.
