Mari McCabe is a teenage volunteer at the Metropolis Zoo. After Lion Mane freed the zoo's animals, McCabe returned one of the two elephants and met Batgirl, Beast Boy, and Starfire. They joined forces and worked together to return all the animals. She came up with a plan for Beast Boy to turn into a pig and use himself to bait the tiger. On her cue, Beast Boy halted at the last second. The pouncing tiger sailed right over him back into its cage. Lion Mane returned to the zoo and attacked Batgirl. He shreded her Batrope to pieces but McCabe landed between them. She picked up a long strand and used it as a whip to corral Lion Mane into the chimpanzee exhibit. Once the zoo was back to normal, McCabe locked up the zoo. Starfire thanked her and Beast Boy admitted she had some "pretty okay skills." McCabe cited she was just good with animals. Batgirl informed her the Special Crimes Unit was on its way to pick up Lion Mane but she didn't think it was a big rush. The chimpanzees were throwing their fruit at Lion Mane.
