Starfire is a warrior princess from the planet Tamaran but despite her exotic alien beauty, she's a down-to-earth girl. She sees the good in everyone, and her kindhearted disposition often brings out the best in her friends. She has a bit of a sibling rivalry with her sister Blackfire, who attends Korugar Academy, where she is more interested in improving her superpower skills than in getting to know her sister. Starfire's signature move is generating energy blasts known as Starbolts. On the first day of school, Principal Waller greeted Starfire and her brother in Tamaranian. Later on, Bumblebee introduced Miss Martian and Starfire to Wonder Woman during a tour of the school. She is a member of the Science Club, Model United Planets Club, and Citizens Helping Extraterrestrials Succeed Society (CHESS). Her CHESS buddy is Wonder Woman. She attended the party celebrating Wonder Woman's first supervillain defeat.

Starfire and Cyborg tied for Hero of the Month for saving Metropolis from Trigon's attack by using teamwork. Lady Shiva, Starfire, Frost, and Wonder Woman waited to halt Firefly's latest crime spree but Frost sneezed and froze Firefly, his hostage, and the helicopter following them. Starfire carried Firefly and the hostage to the street below and began defrosting them with starbolt energy. Starfire was playing a game of Go Fish with Beast Boy but a giant-sized Chompy bashed through the wall and scared them. The next day, the day before semester finals, Starfire studied with Flash and Bumblebee by using flashcards. Bumblebee left the two to get a honey smoothie with 765 cards to go. Starfire went to Harley Quinn's party despite pointing out a weekday party was against the rules and regulations of Principal Waller. Harley insisted if Waller didn't know about the party, it would be all right.

Starfire helped with guarding the Amethyst and campus during Hero of the Year. On the day of, she didn't encounter an suspicious activity but had an unfortunate run-in with a seagull. The night of, Starfire caught Principal Waller after Eclipso blasted her with the Scepter and took her to safety then joined the battle against the Shadow Demons. Starfire started noticing everyone was fighting and angry - Harley and Ivy, Hawkgirl and Flash, Thunder and Lightning, Principal Waller and Vice Principal Grodd, and Supergirl and Beast Boy. She broke up Supergirl and Beast Boy then noticed a Red Kryptomite behind the Weaponomics class podium. She was immune to the effects of Kryptomite, as verified by Lucius Fox's studies, and chased after the Kryptomite after tricking Supergirl into using her X-Ray vision. Starfire was pinned to the lockers by Ivy's vines in the hallway outside. Starfire tricked Ivy and pleaded with her not to use the Anti-Kryptomite Chemical on her since it smelled like dirty gym socks.

Ivy brought her blower out and Starfire broke free with her Starbolts. She landed in front of the Kryptomite then flew away. The chemical doused the Kryptomite and rendered it inert. Harley realized it was the one she was hiding and ran off. Ivy thanked Starfire who flew to the showers to get the chemicals off. Starfire went on a picnic with Batgirl and Beast Boy in Centennial Park but Lion Mane's animal army disrupted the festivities. She lifted a citizen to safety away from a bear chasing him. Lion Mane revealed himself and put Beast Boy under his sway. Starfire powered up and knocked Mane off his elephant. He ran away and narrowly dodged her Starbolts but Batgirl took him out with a bola and tranquilizer dart. They teamed with zoo volunteer Mari McCabe to safely return all the animals to their pens. On a Friday, Starfire reminded Wonder Woman about the Model United Planets luncheon. For the summer, Starfire planned to return home to Tamaran. She was touched by Wonder Woman's invite to join her on Mount Olympus but declined.

Starfire posted a photo with Blackfire on social media. She was intrigued with Hawkgirl's trip in Honduras and couldn't wait to hear about the archaeological dig. Halfway through summer, Starfire missed her friends too much and decided to return to Earth early. She encountered Thunder and Lightning on the way to Super Hero High after the save the day alarm was triggered. She took part in the battle against Ares but fell under Strife's spell of discord and fought Cyborg. Starfire was jealous of Cyborg's snazzy armor and he hated how her hair smelled like marshmallows. During the following semester, Starfire and Frost listened to Ares' funny story about Hercules at Capes & Cowls Cafe but Catwoman sneaked in and threw out a Pollen Grenade. Frost, Starfire, and Steve Trevor watched as Ares was enraged and became a giant. He stepped out of the cafe into the city. Starfire and Bumblebee turned the tide of the battle and fired on a lightning rod Ares was using as a weapon.

Wonder Woman, Harley, Beast Boy, Hawkgirl, and Miss Martian's combined might knocked Ares to the ground. Blackfire visited Starfire on Earth for a planned day of fun-ship. They started off by flying a kite... literally. Next, they got ice cream cones but Blackfire got a brain freeze first. Starfire decided to celebrate it by dunking her like how teams did to their coaches. Starfire placed the drinks in a barrel on her standing tab and Blackfire was buried in ice and drinks. Starfire thought of the most funnest way to celebrate next. Blackfire guessed sitting quietly in peaceful reflection. Starfire took her to the Metropolis Zoo. While Starfire was amused, Blackfire found the animals of Earth weird and pointed to a ridiculous looking shark. Starfire realized it was King Shark. They took turns blasting him with starbolts before he could steal some fish for dinner. Shark grabbed Blackfire out of mid-air and chose her for dinner instead.

Starfire rammed him in the nose to save Blackfire then tricked him to run into cardboard mermaid standee that did little to stop him. Blackfire inquired what they should do. Starfire remembered an old nursery rhyme. They grabbed some vines, sang it in unison, and tied up Shark. They high-fived to a day of fun-ship. At the day's end, they returned to the Boom Tube room at Super Hero High School. Before she returned to Korugar Academy, Blackfire asked Starfire if she was going to return home for Tamaran Sovereignty Day. Starfire confirmed she wouldn't miss it. Blackfire thanked her for all the fun. Starfire thanked and hugged her goodbye. Starfire was voted "Sweetest Smile" in the Super Hero High School Yearbook. For the summer, she went back home to Tamaran. Starfire attended Hal Jordan's going away party and helped defeat Solomon Grundy by firing a starbolt into his face. Sinestro arrived unannounced on Earth. Starfire hoped Blackfire was with him and approached the ship.

Sinestro captured her with a construct as part of his plan to forcibly form a Korugar Academy dream team. Starfire was freed from it after Jessica Cruz, the new Green Lantern, defeated Sinestro and took his ring. After Waller relaxed the No Pets policy, Starfire got a pet silk worm she named Silkie. She took part in target practice with Frost, Cyborg, and Bumblebee. As they fired at targets made out of villains, they were unaware Cheetah was in the hedges and kept firing. Starfire grabbed a water tower during Trigon's assault on the school. Starfire started feeling homesick and yeared for the Great Dance of Tamaran. When Double Dare was captured in Lena Luthor's lab, Katana, Supergirl, and Wonder Woman noticed she was really sad and inquired. She told them about her longing then elected to fly alone back to school. They decided to organize a dance to cheer her up. Katana even made her a dress. Starfire found it odd but was uplifted by their "sacrifice."

Starfire asked who they dance with. She was amused when they said each other and the boys. She asked for Blackfire and her classmates to be invited. Blackfire started the dance by blasting Starfire into a wall. Starfire proclaimed "Great Gorka" then announced the dance had begun. She formed a sphere with her starbolt then nailed Blackfire. They flew around and exchanged blasts until Wonder Woman pulled Starfire down. Wonder Woman wanted her to get the Korugar students to stop. Starfire pointed out surrender would be the ultimate disgrace in the dance. Wonder Woman was confused. Starfire explained dance meant "domination battle" in Tamaranean and the only way to win was take them all down at once. On Wonder Woman's cue, Starfire uppercutted Blackfire into her classmates and they were bound in the Lasso of Truth. At Capes & Cowls afterwards, Starfire apologized it wasn't the dance they had hoped. Wonder Woman admitted she still had fun.

During the S.T.A.R. Labs incident, Beast Boy, Starfire, and Big Barda were with the Hero Ball team on an away game that went into overtime. Starfire came across Supergirl and Wonder Woman playing frisbee for fun. She mistook it for a weapn and blasted one. They let Starfire try one but she accidentally threw it into Lena Luthor's old lab and it knocked over a glass beaker, creating a new Green Kryptomite. Starfire wasn't having fun. Wonder Woman believed she just needed practice and went to check on the damage while Supergirl took Starfire to Centennial Park. The Kryptomite jumped outside onto a puddle, multiplied, and followed them to the park. Supergirl tried teaching her the basics but she tossed a disc into a pond and splashed the mites, creating more. She tried less strength and aimed at some trees. The disc bounced off several trees, chopped a trash can, it caught on fire, and hit a patch of long grass where the mites were hiding. Supergirl went looking for the disc but she got carried off by the mites. Starfire used the discs to launch the mites into mid-air. Wonder Woman arrived and captured them with her Lasso. Supergirl thanked Starfire. She soon got the hang of frisbee and wanted to learn more. Supergirl saw Beast Boy playing with a yo-yo and got an idea.

Dr. Seid selected his top students - Bumblebee, Supergirl, Raven, Batgirl, Katana, Wonder Woman, Starfire, and Beast Boy - to compete in the Tri-Matholon for the Math Club. After Seid revealed he was Darkseid, ruler of Apokolips, the supers attacked. Starfire and Bumblebee fired at the same time but were overpowered by the Omega Effect and hit. She was later transformed into a Darkseid but restored to normal thanks to Batgirl, Harley, Raven, and Bumblebee.
