Lightning is a student at Super Hero High School and the sister of Thunder. The sisters share an uncommonly strong bond and their powers are at their height when they work together. Their father is the electrifying superhero from Metropolis known as Black Lightning and they're quickly following in his footsteps. Lightning can generate lightning bolts and specializes in manipulating and overloading electronic and electrical devices. She is a member of the Science Club. The day before semester finals, Lightning attended Harley Quinn's party after school. Affected by the Red Kryptomite and turned angry, Thunder was upset Lightning took her headband again without asking. Lightning retorted it looked better on her. They exchanged fire. After Starfire tricked Poison Ivy into neutralizing the Kryptomite, Thunder and Lightning apologized to each other. Lightning and Thunder returned to Super Hero High near the end of summer after a save the day alarm was triggered. They encountered Starfire on the way.
Lightning blasted the brainwashed god Janus in the chest then Thunder knocked him off his feet. They took part in the battle with Ares and Strife but fell under the latter's spell and fought one another, accusing the other of copying. One night, Giganta chased after Cyborg over a perceived insult about anger issues. Thunder and Lightning came to Cyborg's aid and attacked her. They took her down but Giganta grabbed a live wire and caused a black out. Thunder and Lightning helped guide citizens into the Capes & Cowls Cafe, which was acting as a temporary shelter. Batgirl arrived and asked Lightning for her help with restoring power. Lightning asked about Thunder but Batgirl only wanted her. They returned to the sub-station. Lightning went up on the pole and tried to use her abilities but she was filled with doubt. Thunder arrived and reminded her their dad always said she could do anything. Lightning perked up and stated they would it together. They used their powers simultaneously and soon power was restored. Super Hero High recognized them for their part in saving the city and Commissioner Gordon awarded them with medals.
Novels only During the 100th Annual Super Triathlon, a karaoke contest was held during the written portion. Thunder and Lightning, as a duo, were finalists. Super Hero High lost its previous music teacher during Thunder and Lightning's Dueling Duets demonstration. Thunder's powerful shockwaves hit all acoustic instruments and caused them to reverberate cacophanously. Lightning countered with electric synthesizers and drum machines but they overloaded. Thunder and Lightning provided the obstacles in Lucius Fox's class on weather manipulation. They also volunteered to assist on Liberty Belle's Natural Disaster Project and answer any questions and were later assigned by Waller to keep storms manageable during natural-disaster detail.
