Hailing from China, Lady Shiva prides herself on the discipline that's made her one of the top martial artists at Super Hero High. She likes to keep her brain and body functioning optimally. She always has your back if she considers you her friend. She incorporates every part of herself in battle, even her ponytail, and specializes in perfectly placed kicks. She is roommates with Miss Martian, Frost, and Star Sapphire. On Supergirl's first day of school, Shiva was one of students waiting for her to arrive. When she did, Shiva greeted with "Ni hao" or "Hello" in Mandarin Chinese. The next day, during lunch, Hal Jordan congratulated Shiva on "killing" the Weaponomics exam. About a week later, Shiva fought against the Female Fury Stompa in defense of the school. Stompa eventually gained the upper hand and threw Shiva. Poison Ivy summoned a shrub and it caught her.
For Advanced Stakeouts class, Principal Waller assigned Harley Quinn and Lady Shiva group project partners. That night, they waited atop a roof in the city and searched for the deadly assassin Cheshire. Shiva was too serious for Harley's tastes and she began to entertain herself, giving away their position. Cheshire found them and rushed them. They dropped down but Shiva used a flagpole to land safely down below. They quickly scaled the side of the building back to the roof but Cheshire was gone. Shiva refused to fail because Harley couldn't keep quiet. Harley egged Shiva to tell her a joke, unaware Cheshire was behind her. Shiva told a knock knock joke and forced Harley to duck as she punched Cheshire out. Harley came to appreciate her impeccable timing and great punchline. Shiva asked Harley not to tell anyone. Lady Shiva took part in a Save the Day alarm involving Firefly flying off with a hostage. The ambush didn't go as planned after a sick Frost sneezed and froze Firefly, the hostage, and the helicopter following. Shiva ordered Frost to go straight to bed.
By the day before semester finals, Lady Shiva was tied with Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl for top of the class. On night watch with them, Shiva realized they spotted Giganta at the Capes & Cowls Cafe at 8 pm. They intervened and defeated the villain in Centennial Park. Lady Shiva was nominated for Hero of the Year. When interviewed by Lois Lane, Shiva stated the joy she felt was nearly as great as the pride that swelled in her when she defeated the army of rampaging Bogey Beasts using nothing but her left pinkie toe. She ran up the side of a building with a banner, leaped, and tossed several throwing knives that propped the banner up. While Wonder Woman organized a schedule for Amethyst guard duty, Shiva took up a stance against Big Barda. Wonder Woman explained she reformed and was a new student. Shiva remained suspicious and kept an eye on Barda. On the day of the Hero of the Year gala, Shiva saw Barda out for a walk and thought she was trying to run away and thus an admission of guilt.
Shiva took Barda to Principal Waller in the theater. Waller quickly deduced Shiva had no hard evidence and dismissed Barda. Shiva was sure would find some and declared she wouldn't let the school get invaded again. Waller reminded Shiva that heroes serve justice, not hunches. The Hero of the Year ceremony was broken up by the arrival of Eclipso, Dark Opal, and their Shadow Demons. Two shadows grabbed Shiva by a foot and hand but Barda came to her rescue. Shiva stated she owed her one but Barda turned it down and said that's what friends do for each other. Shiva finally realized Barda changed for the good. Barda and Shiva accepted Supergirl's invitation to stay with her at Kent Farm over the holiday break. They did rock paper scissors for the top bunk. Barda was confused how Shiva won by using paper against rock. Shiva joined the Citizens Helping Extraterrestrials Succeed Society (CHESS). Her CHESS buddy was Big Barda. Lady Shiva soon won Hero of the Month. Lady Shiva and Flash shared an interest in numbers and calculated the perfect punch together.
Lady Shiva was voted "Most Disciplined" in the Super Hero High School Yearbook. During locker clean-out, Principal Waller declared Lady Shiva's locker was the cleanest one she ever saw. Shiva and Barda accepted Supergirl's invitation to spend the summer with her at the Kents in Smallville. Shiva was annoyed Barda called dibs on the top bunk again. They departed in her spaceship. Shiva used what she knew to work on the farm, namely kicking bales of hay around and threatening a chicken into laying eggs. Supergirl intervened and showed them how to be gentle. Shiva was impressed and asked her to instruct them in the ways of the farm. She taught them about horses, sheep, and goats next. Shiva declared it would be a summer of true greatness. Halfway through the summer, Shiva was already driving the tractor. Wonder Woman, Bumblebee, Katana, Beast Boy, and Batgirl suddenly teleported to Kent Farm with Hermes. They informed Supergirl, Barda, and Shiva about Ares and Strife's plan to invade Metropolis.
Lady Shiva helped with fighting Ares but fell under Strife's spell of discord. She and Barda fought each other until Wonder Woman defeated Ares. Shiva worked with Big Barda and Batgirl on the Mobile HQ for shop class Mid-Terms. Shiva finished worked on shields from atop the roof. Batgirl called it a night but the Mobile HQ picked up a crime alert. They set off on a test drive and encountered Perry the Parademon. Shiva thought he was just a monster and part of Granny's plan. During their pursuit, Shiva put on the gauntlet above the front passenger seat and used the Mobile HQ's mechanical arm to grab a senior citizen then planted him safely on the sidewalk. Shiva pressed a button on the front panel and a turrent came out of the right headlight. It fired and disintegrated the manhole cover Perry was playing with. She pressed another button. The emblem lifted up and a cannon behind it fired a net and captured Perry. Barda took him as her pet and freed him. Shiva was still skeptical but Barda believed everyone deserved a second chance.
Lady Shiva helped Wonder Woman study physics, namely momentum, at Capes & Cowls. That night, she was one of the Supers who responded to the Save The Day Alarm and went to the Daily Planet with Wonder Woman and the Flash. Batgirl and Lady Shiva elected to disable the Agony Matrix on the front door. Shiva was unable to get a hold of Big Barda on the phone to get her expertise on the Apokoliptian tech but Commissioner Gordon was on hand and deactivated it.
