Smallville is a town in Kansas that was home to Superman and later Supergirl almost 20 years later. Lois Lane picked up on unconfirmed reports that a rocket ship landed on Earth near Smallville. Weeks later, Wonder Woman spoke with Supergirl through a video conference set up by Barbara Gordon. From her bedroom, Supergirl watched Wonder Woman fly around Super Hero High School and battle Giganta. Looking through brochures for several high schools, Supergirl made her choice and started writing an email to Principal Waller. Supergirl took Hawkgirl, Katana, Harley Quinn, Beast Boy, Wonder Woman, and Cyborg back home to Smallville for Thanksgiving. They all pitched into help when they learned Jonathan was ill. Towards the end of the semester, Supergirl became scared of final exams and flew back to Smallville intent on quitting school. She was startled by Pa Kent and crashed into the family barn. They retired to the kitchen around 2:00 and Supergirl told them about a bad experience she had about finals back at Krypton High School. Pa and Ma Kent inspired her to go back and take those exams or the bullies win.

After Eclipso and Dark Opal were defeated the night of the Hero of the Year ceremony, the Kents hosted a dinner at their home. Crazy Quilt presented the Hero of the Year award to Bumblebee. Supergirl decided to stay with the Kents over the holiday break and invited Lady Shiva and Big Barda to join her. They both agreed. During the following semester, on a Friday afternoon, the Birds of Prey's joyride on the Batjet took them to Smallville. Batgirl, Supergirl, Poison Ivy, Hawkgirl, and the Flash followed. Batgirl advocated peaceful resolution and tried to talk Black Canary down. She didn't want any super powers scratching the Batjet's paint job. Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Miss Martian, Katana, Beast Boy, and Bumblebee joined them after they rescued Etrigan. The Batjet's fuel was depleted and fell out of the sky, threatening to crash into the Kent Farm. Supergirl put herself between the plane and farm and pushed against the Batjet's nose. She managed to stop the Batjet with only a broken section of fence and two big handprints to account for. Black Canary, Black Condor, and Magpie attempted to flee on foot but were rounded up. The Smallville Special Crimes Unit arrived and took them into custody. Wonder Woman let Beast Boy and Flash take her Invisible Jet back to Super Hero High while everyone else boarded the Batjet. Wonder Woman and Supergirl carried it off to Themyscira for Wonder Woman's slumber party.

Supergirl invited Big Barda and Lady Shiva to join her at Kent Farm over the summer vacation. They accepted. Supergirl schooled them on the fundamentals of manual farm labor like milking cows, moving bales of hay, handling a chicken, riding horses, leading sheep, and dealing with ornery goats. Barda understood the part about the goat. Shiva declared it shall be the summer of true greatness. Halfway through summer, Ares and Strife made their move and attacked Metropolis. Bumblebee got an idea and summoned Hermes to deliver a message to Supergirl immediately. Wonder Woman, Bumblebee, Beast Boy, Katana, and Batgirl grabbed hold of Hermes and were teleported to Smallville with him. Wonder Woman and Bumblebee explained the situation then they all departed for Metropolis.
