The Phantom Zone is a famous inescable prison dimension. The only way to gain access to the zone is with an aptly named Phantom Zone Projector. A fare happened to leave one behind in a Space Cab. The Space Cabbie put it in his trunk then later collided with an out-of-control space pod holding Green Lantern Jessica Cruz, Star Sapphire, Big Barda, and Beast Boy. Cabbie heard a rumor the Green Lanterns relocated to the Phantom Zone. Sapphire and Cruz decided to use it to go to the Zone and rescue the Green Lanterns. They instructed the Cabbie to send them to the Phantom Zone then reverse the Projector to pull them back. As an extra incentive, Sapphire told the Cabbie to keep his meter running. Cruz cited her responsibility as a Green Lantern and elected to go first even though she was terrified. After three minutes in the Phantom Zone, they didn't encounter anyone. As soon as Barda took a step, Prisoner #24602 promised to give them the traditional Phantom Zone welcome -- battle royale style -- and chased after them.

With 4 minutes and 46 seconds left, Big Barda gained the upper hand and leaped over 24602 and smashed it with the Mega Rod. The Green Lanterns were still unaccounted for. With 3 minutes, 30 seconds left, they encountered a three-headed criminal that wanted to eat them. The supers tried to double back but a lot of criminals surrounded them. Cruz ordered everyone to fight back while she recited the Green Lanter oath. The power of the ring knocked the criminals out. They found the Lanterns and liberated them. K'ryssma mentioned they were banished to the zone by ruffians. Cruz realized the Kryptonians lied to them. On time, Space Cabbie teleported the supers with the Lanterns back to outer space. The Green Lanterns sentenced Zod, Faora, and Non to a lifetime in the Phantom Zone and sent them there with Cabbie's projector.
