The Daily Planet is a newspaper agency based in Metropolis near Super Hero High School and across from a clock tower. The Planet published a front page article about Hawkgirl's capture of Lion Mane. During the Hero of the Year pre-show, the search for Dark Opal continued. Batgirl and Bumblebee scanned Metropolis from the roof of the Daily Planet but found no leads. Wonder Woman and Supergirl met up with them after they searched their quadrants and also found nothing. Supergirl's Mnemosyne Crystal activated again but Dark Opal hacked Batgirl's comunication bracelet and issued an ultimatum to her, Supergirl and Wonder Woman. Knowing full well it was a trap, they went anyway to rescue the Kents, Hippolyta and Commissioner Gordon. Bumblebee stowed away on the Batjet as it departed from the Daily Planet.

Bette Sans Souci believed the Daily Planet covered up a story for years about S.T.A.R. Labs manufacturing superpowers. Jimmy Olsen was doing so on Mayor Sackett's behalf. The editor-in-chief, Perry White, went on spring vacation and left Ron Troupe in charge until he returned. Outside of the Planet, Olsen turned into Giant Turtle Boy and stopped a purse snatcher. However, the victim was annoyed he broke the strap on the purse. He offered to duct tape it but she walked away. Olsen went into an alley to change back in secret. Lois Lane saw the heroic act and tried to ask the Turtle Boy for an interview but he was gone. Olsen ran into Lane and greeted her. He claimed he didn't see anyone. Lane revealed she was going to the Planet with a story about S.T.A.R. Labs because she needed to get the truth out as fast as she could. Troupe was impressed and knew it could be really explosive for the story. Olsen started repeating things Mayor Sackett told him like what people didn't know wouldn't hurt them. Lane countered the public needed to to be able to make informed decisions.

Olsen suggested it was up to people like reporters to make sure everyone else was doing what was best for them and controlling the news so people don't waste their time worrying. Lane was upset at the mention of Sackett but Plastique arrived. Troupe implored her to call the tip line and set up an interview if she had a lead. Plastique announced she was taking everyone hostage and making them publish a story about how she was tricked and had a super power foisted upon her. Lane asked if she was alluding to Dr. Faulkner. Plastique got angry and demonstrated her exploding powers, shouting it was up to the Planet to hold people in power accountable but didn't and betrayed people like her. Lane approached and asked to hear her story, to Plastique's surprise. Lane informed her she was investigating the explosion and deduced she was behind it. Plastique admitted it was the only way she knew to get someone to pay attention. Lane implored her to continue. Plastique revealed Sackett recruited her to help turn Metropolis into a utopia with the cleanest air, purest water, and organic gardens on every rooftop but instead Dr. Faulkner weaponized her.

Batgirl, Katana, Ivy, Harley Quinn, Flash, Catwoman, Wonder Woman, Lady Shiva, and Frost went to the Planet after the Save The Day Alarm was triggered. Wonder Woman flew up to survey the situation. She punched through the glass window to save Lois Lane from Plastique. Batgirl stopped everyone from charging inside because an Agony Matrix was affixed to the front doors. Deadshot ordered them to stand down or he would open fire. Harley tried to call his bluff but she was electrocuted by him. Batgirl called for a hero huddle. Katana, Frost, and Flash split off to get Deadshot, she and Lady Shiva would disable the Agony Matrix, and Catwoman would climb up to support Wonder Woman. Shiva was unable to get a hold of Big Barda on the phone to get her expertise on Apokoliptian tech but Commissioner Gordon was on hand and deactivated it. Katana deflected Deadshot's blast with her katana while Flash ran up from behind and stripped him of his gauntlet blasters then Frost froze him in place.

Wonder Woman's presence made the situation tense and Plastique suspected she was one of Sackett's lackeys. To make matters worse, Batgirl hailed her comm and informed her the other Supers were on their way to take down Plastique. Lane tried to defuse things and remind her she wanted to help people, not hurt them. Plastique admitted she couldn't stop the process. Wonder Woman couldn't get a hold of Supergirl so she flew Plastique up in the sky to safely detonate. Plastique apologized and admitted she really didn't want to hurt anyone. After the explosion, they fell to the street below. Wonder Woman took the brunt of the impact. Gordon took Plastique into custody. She asked Lane if she was going to tell her story. Lane promised and gave her contact info to Plastique on the condition she be her first call from jail. Perry White returned from his vacation and demanded to know what happened. Olsen confessed he let Mayor Sackett talk him into publishing things that weren't true.

Troupe took responsibility for all the damage. Lois Lane presented a correction with the first part of the real story about S.T.A.R. Labs. She introduced herself. White was impressed with her reporting and asked if she ever considered working for the Daily Planet. She confessed it may have crossed her mind. One night, Bumblebee battled Mad Harriet on the roof of the Planet. Harriet dodged her stings and she shrunk and avoided her swipes. Cyborg joined the battle after Harriet made a bad pun. Rather than face Cyborg's arm cannon, she surrendered. Wonder Woman snapped a picture for the upcoming yearbook. Cyborg obliged and let her take him making several poses.

Novels only): The Planet ran Lois Lane's interview with Wonder Woman in the What's New News section. Lane ended up writing an article on the 100th Annual Super Triathlon for the Planet.

(LEGO only): The Flash was exposed to Blue Kryptomite by Lena Luthor for snooping around in her lab. When Supergirl told him to slow down, Flash ran up the side of the Daily Planet instead because the Blue radiation confused people. Flash ran so fast atop the Planet's globe, it spun off the axis. It threatened to roll right into Super Hero High but Wonder Woman stopped it and threw it into the Metropolis Docks. They later tricked Flash to leaped atop it and running. He didn't tire out like they thought so Bumblebee tripped him up by firing Batgirl's grapnel line at his feet. Once Flash and the Kryptomite were separated, the girls returned the globe to the top of the Planet.
