According to a legend recorded on Gemworld, there is a gem more powerful than anything in that realm. When the last gem of an extinct planet was bound with treasure from across the universe, it would yield ultimate power. A scepter. The gem, a crystal key of some sort, was discovered years later when Supergirl's Mnemosyne Crystal activated. Dark Opal stole Hawkgirl's belt made of Nth Metal from Thanagar. The Shadow Demons stole the ruby from the Tiara of Triumph on Themyscira, Big Barda's Mega Rod made from Megametal of Apokolips, one of Katana's shuriken, and Star Sapphire's Violet Power Ring from Zamaron. Ultimately, Eclipso and Opal blackmailed Supergirl into giving up her crystal by kidnapping Hippolyta, the Kents, and Commissioner Gordon.
Eclipso and Opal took a portal to Super Hero High. She used the Scepter to bring darkness on the school and ordered her shadows to attack. She then touched the Amethyst and draw force field around them, the Amethyst and tower. Opal was surprised when Eclipso announced her first act would be to use the Scepter to destroy Gemworld. They fought over the Scepter. Supergirl used her heat vision to overload her crystal and break up the Scepter. The girls recovered their stolen items.
