Bette Sans Souci was originally from Montreal, Canada. She lived in Metropolis long enough to set up a dating profile on MetropolisMatch.com, listing jigsaw puzzles, hot yoga, spaghetti, spicy food, fireworks, and chemistry as her likes. Sans Souci was recruited by Mayor Sackett to help turn Metropolis into a utopia with the cleanest air, purest water, and organic gardens on every rooftop but instead Dr. Faulkner weaponized her in S.T.A.R. Labs' secret program to manufacture super powers. She was turned into a human bomb and could set off explosions. S.T.A.R. codenamed her Plastique. Catwoman went to Capes & Cowls for milk and overheard Mayor Sackett telling Bette Sans Souci to have patience. She accused him of lying to her then went inside S.T.A.R. Labs. A short time later, Catwoman witnessed an explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs. The dating profile Batgirl set up for Commissioner Gordon got matched up with Sans Souci the day after.

At Cafe Marie, Gordon got embarrassed and apologized to Sans Souci. He told her he would understand if she wanted to call the date off. He hoped she wouldn't. Sans Souci assured him she didn't want to call it off and thought his daughter was a go-getter. She mused she picked that up from her father. He blushed. She changed the subject to how she was always fascinate with Super Hero High but could never make it to the public tours. Gordon offered to give her a one to her delight. He showed her his classroom then walked her to the faculty lounge but she saw a vault and inquired. Gordon told her it was the Weaponomics Vault where they kept weapons used for teaching purposes but stated it wasn't on the tour for security reasons. Sans Souci reckoned they would have to do it the hard way. Deadshot stepped forward with Batgirl as his hostage. Gordon complied up and opened up the vault. Batgirl reached for her belt but Sans Souci gave her a warning explosion.

Once they pillaged the vault, Sans Souci locked Batgirl and Gordon in a vault with a time bomb to buy them time to escape. She admitted she planned to attack the Daily Planet for covering up S.T.A.R. Labs' secret for years. Before she left, she told Gordon she was sorry it didn't work out. Harley Quinn, Frost, and Katana happened to be setting up for the spring dance and got in the way of their escape route. Frost froze them but Sans Souci exploded herself and Deadshot free. Deadshot threw out the Multi-Blast Shocker for cover. Plastique went to the Planet but Ron Troupe implored her to call the tip line and set up an interview if she had a lead. Plastique announced she was taking everyone hostage and making them type up a story about how she was tricked and had a super power foisted upon her. Lane asked if she was alluding to Dr. Faulkner. Plastique got angry and demonstrated her exploding powers, shouting it was up to the Planet to hold people in power accountable but didn't and betrayed people like her. Lane approached and asked to hear her story, to Plastique's surprise.

Lane informed her she was investigating the explosion and deduced she was behind it. Plastique admitted it was the only way she knew to get someone to pay attention. Lane implored her to continue. Plastique revealed Sackett recruited her with false promises and Dr. Faulkner weaponized her. Wonder Woman punched through the glass window and tried to save Lane. However, Wonder Woman's presence made the situation tense and Plastique suspected she was one of Sackett's lackeys. To make matters worse, Batgirl hailed her comm and informed her the other Supers were on their way to take down Plastique. Lane tried to defuse things and remind her she wanted to help people, not hurt them. Plastique admitted she couldn't stop the process. Wonder Woman couldn't get a hold of Supergirl so she flew Plastique up in the sky to safely detonate. Plastique apologized and admitted she really didn't want to hurt anyone. After the explosion, they fell to the street below. Wonder Woman took the brunt of the impact. Commissioner Gordon took Plastique into custody. She asked Lane if she was going to tell her story. Lane promised and gave her contact info to Plastique on the condition she be her first call from jail.
