Dr. Stella Bateman is a bright physician in Gotham City. She also served as a medical consultant on the movie, "Dark Interlude" starring Matt Hagen. Bateman fell in love with Hagen and romanticized about restoring Clayface. She approached him with a possible cure, in the form of Wayne Bio-Medical's MP-40 isotope. Bateman was unable to cure the monster that Hagen became over the years.
