Pierce is a member of Gotham City's upper social class. But Pierce has anything but class. He usually hobknobs at parties around town and is a friend of Veronica Vreeland. As idle rich, the two often plan high profile party invitations to the criminal fringe. One of their schemes involved Vreeland developing a friendship with the Penguin. Though Vreeland began to have second thoughts, Pierce continued to encourage the prank. When Vreeland was kidnapped and held for ransom, Pierce was the required deliverer. Pierce and Vreeland survived the ordeal thanks to Batman.
