Jackie Machek is a cheerleader at Hamilton High School in Gotham City, and is friends with Dana Tan and Terry McGinnis. 10 years ago, she was adopted by her father's employer, Bill Wallace. Wallace took part in illegal chemical dumping, which ultimately took the life of Tony Machek, her father. Perhaps out of guilt, Wallace took her in and raised her.
Now driven by base logic, a mutated Tony Machek sent drones to kidnap Wallace and his daughter. Any attempt to reason with Machek was fruitless. Batman rescued them both as Machek's cavern collapsed.
