Daniel Mockridge was the corporate chair of Competitron, a budding software company. The company was on the verge of developing The Riddle of the Minotaur game. Mockridge fired the game's creator Edward Nygma by using a contract legality. Two years later, Mockridge made a multi-million dollar deal to sell out the rights to Competitron to Wayne Enterprises. This business byline drew out Nygma. He lured Mockridge to Mockridge's own nightclub, the Wasteland and planned on killing him. Batman and Robin arrived. Mockridge was taken to Gotham's Riddle of the Minotaur Maze but was saved. Mockridge continued to live in constant fear of the Riddler.
