La Gata is a robot created by Mason Andrews to assist him in National Biotech Authority assignments. Andrews programmed his intelligence into it, chose a female human personality, and named it La Gata. La Gata can be translated through some Spanish dialects as "beautiful woman." Many colleagues noticed how it was much smarter than Andrews and often finished his sentences. La Gata ultimately created a set of bio-enhancer suits for Authority operatives that later became known as the Hoop Squad.
