John is the leader of a group of No Techs, those dedicated to living a simple agarian life without modern technology. He is a stern taskmaster, follows the customs and laws established by his people and the federal government, and is a loving father. John also revels in faith and hands on hard work over science and technology. After Zeta was discovered among them, John issued his destruction and was appalled it corrupted his daughter, Amy. However, when Zeta saved his and Amy's life, he changed his opinion and concluded there was more to Zeta than machinery. To him, somehow, Zeta had a soul and genuinely cared for others.
