Karen Foley started her career at Wayne-Powers as an assistant to Jim Tate, head designer of the light weapons division. Foley had since been promoted while Tate remained at his position. It seems Foley took over Human Resources. With the division being scrapped, Foley offered Tate a modest severance package and was unable to offer any contract to him.
