Dr. Byrne is a civilian scientist employed by the National Security Agency. When Zeta was captured abd brought to Maryland, Bennett ordered Byrne to reset Zeta's memory and make him loyal to the NSA again. Byrne was baffled by a mysterious module in Zeta but Bennett ordered him to just delete it and continue on.
