A NASA astronaut sent on a probe to Mars to find evidence of previous life forms, J Allen Carter stumbled upon something big, Martian hieroglyphics. Carter unsuspectingly released the Imperium horde and became their first victim. The Imperium sent various advance agents to their next target, Earth to sabotage its key defenses. One drone impersonated Carter and got itself to the position of US Senate where it made a daring peace proposal to the World Assembly; disarm all nuclear warheads. When the Imperium arrived on Earth, the Carter drone reappeared and gloated but perished in the pre-Justice League's first victory.
