Six light years away, an alien planet became home to Jax-Ur and Mala. Two meteors headed towards a black hole collided and created a rift in the Phantom Zone. The pair escaped and were saved. They soon took over and renamed the planet, New Krypton. Jax-Ur instated an authoritative government and used a co-operation system to construct an armada to invade Earth. Many original members of the planet's national council were condemned as anarchists. Alterus, however, vowed his loyalty to Jax-Ur and Mala and was their top military official. Alterus resented both but bidded his time for a chance to permanently overthrow the Kryptonians.
When Jax-Ur and Mala captured Superman and Cetea, the decided to launch their captors into the same black hole. Alterus changed the navigational system and created an excuse that a gravitational anamoly hit the space ship off course. Jax-Ur and Mala took the bait and allowed Alterus the time to free Superman and Cetea. In a battle outside, Superman managed to survive and escape with Alterus and Cetea. Jax-Ur and Mala were not so lucky. Cetea and Alterus were recognized as national heroes and most likely became major figures in rebuilding their planet's society.
