The capitol of the United States of America, Washington D.C. is no stranger to being under seige. A victim of arson during the Civil War, Washington D.C. was rebuilt and became an important political centeras home to the three branches of government.

During one summer, the Justice League received a tip of a terrorist attack and staked out the capitol. Superman remained as his civilian persona, Clark Kent, to get close to the targets. Meanwhile, the rest of the League were hidden at various strategic points. They were just as surprised when a Gordanian ship appeared and was shot down by a Thanagarian fleet. After debate, D.C. endorsed the Thanagarians' idea to create a planetary defense. However, it was a ruse and the capitol was one of the major cities occupied by the aliens.

Over the years, the main Cadmus base lay several miles near the White House. It became a target of Lex Luthor and Brainiac since it housed the nanotechnology known as Dark Heart. The villains assimilated it and converted the Cadmus building into a weapon that would digitize Earth in one blast. The founding seven of the Justice League arrived and confronted them. The Flash utilized the power of the Speed Force to destroy Brainiac without killing Luthor. Luckily, the White House and other important structures were spared damage. A short time later, D.C. was a city invaded by Darkseid's forces. Years later, D.C. was invaded by Grodd and an army of mutant gorillas.
