The Vernet Marine Research Center is a research laboratory specializing in marine biology. Dr. Selig consulted with the Center on somatic research in coral reef species as part of his research into creating a new generation of semi-organic synthoids. The scientist in charge appears to be Dr. O'Keefe. In addition to facilities in the Center, two submarines are used to explore the nearby ocean system. They are in the process of trying to rebuild an unstable coral reef but sealed it off indefinitely.
