The Knossos, named after the Minoan city, is the American government's highest level synthoid laboratory. Commonly referred to as the Floating Fortress, the Knossos is a hovering platform that is anchored at sea and constantly moved. In addition, the Knossos is cloaked to look like an island and an aerial security team patrols the waters near it. Its location and coordinates are stored in the IU Debriefing Post's sub-rosa terminal. Dr. Selig led the Zeta Project here and thus, Zeta was created on the platform. More recently, Dr. Selig began a new project on the Knossos to manufacture semi-organic synthoids.
The terrorist organization Brother's Day plotted to destroy the Knossos as part of their anti-robotics mantra. They located Dr. Edmund, a former member of the Zeta Project, to download the Knossos' coordinates and help them pass the security check. After Zeta and Ro saved Edmund's life, they elected to go in his place with holographic emitters. Just as Zeta found Dr. Selig, Brother's Day set off their thermal devices. The entire facility was evacuated before its destruction.
