Kalanor is a planet in the fringes of the galaxy. It was once a flourishing paradise sustained by the planet's living soul, P'ytar. It was entrapped underground and the world became a wasteland. Centuries later, P'ytar reached out to an exile. Instead, the exile, Despero abused its power and established a fanatical cult named the Legion of the Third Eye. The planet was placed under his power, a dampening field to block all communications. The Legion was then sent to invade other planets and recruit new followers by force.
Kalanor soon caught the attention of the Green Lantern Corps. After a simple extraction became an all out confrontation, Kilowog barely escaped and Katma Tui went undercover for the underground rebellion. They chose their base of operations to be ancient chambers underground. In each one, there were mysterious drawings with icons that illustrated P'ytar and the planet's ecosystem. Kilowog reached out to Jon Stewart and prompted a unit from the Justice League to investigate. After resovling themselves to destroy P'ytar with a carbon bomb, J'onn Jonzz made telepathic contact with it and helped it reassert itself on the planet. Despero and is forces were neutralized and the planet was restored to its former glory. The Legion's authoritative rule was overthrown.
