Sometime in the 19th century, an alien evolved gorillas in Africa. They constructed a city of their own and centuries later, it is a technological marvel leaps and bounds ahead of any manmade one. Gorilla City has stayed hidden because of a force field generator that takes anything within its radius into an asynchronous dimensional phase. The city appears invisible and no physical matter may pass through.
In the 21st century, one of their own, Grodd was chased out of town for trying to take over with mind control. He managed to steal the security plans and later rendered Gorilla City vulnerable to attack. The Justice League defeated Grodd and saved Gorilla City. Years later, the Legion of Doom invaded with the intention of using the City's force field generator for a scheme to take over the world. Deadman recruited Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman to help. Deadman was able to pass through the field and destroyed the generator. The trio then stopped the Legion and saved Gorilla City a second time.
