Blackhawk Island is the top secret base of the Blackhawk Squadron. Located in the Pacific Ocean, hidden in plain sight among the 30,000 islands, the Blackhawks deployed safely and ambushed Axis Powers with ease. Perhaps out of coincidence or irony, blackhawks are occassionally sighted near the Island. Also of note, before the Blackhawks occupied it, the Island was teaming with supernatural activity. During World War II, they confiscated at least one War Wheel, a Vandal Savage poster, and a Nazi flag.

After World War II ended, the Blackhawks remained active and had many more adventures, often of the fringe science variety. Under orders to confiscate any objects, the Blackhawks extended their base to house the many objects. It became known as the Blackhawk Victory Museum. On display were costumes of villains they encountered such as Killer Shark, Queen Killer Shark, King Condor, and the Hoopster and also costumes the Blackhawks wore in each decade they were active: the 1950's, 1960's, and 1970's. Costumes of later additions to the team: Lady Blackhawk and Chop-Chop were also put up. One of the objects stored in a security vault was the Spear of Longinus. They also adapted several confiscated weapons into the Island's security system. including War Wheels, robot condors, robot sharks, and a robot squid. Since most of the objects are dangerous in nature, the Museum is equipped with a self-destruct sequence only the Blackhawks are privy to.

Eventually, the Blackhawks and their Island were decommissioned. The Blackhawks who passed on were buried there and a memorial was erected. The surviving Blackhawk, Chuck Sirianni, decided to keep the Island's security system on and monitored it from his new home. In the 21st century, a unit from the Legion of Doom broke into the Island. Lex Luthor, Dr. Polaris, and the Key were after the Spear of Longinus as an initiation for Luthor. Sirianni contacted the U.S. Federal Government. The government liaison, King Faraday, forwarded the communication to Justice League Unlimited. The Flash, Shayera Hol, and Fire flew to Blackhawk Island and coordinated with Sirianni. The four managed to save the Island but lost the Spear.
