Almerac is a planet similar to Earth in physiology. For thousands of years, the House of the Blood Royale ruled the Almeracian Empire. The Empire is known for military conquest and selective breeding. The House assimilates the strongest survivors of the planets they conquer and uses them to preserve the royal bloodline that manifests mental powers. The capitol city is Tae Tamrac and is located in Utopian Country, where the elite members of society live. The country mimics a neoclassical style reminiscent of ancient Greece and Rome in which architecture co-exists in harmony with the landscape. As an example, Almerac's prison was built into ancient tunnels and fortified with force field technology. One exception is the Forbidden Jungles due to high humidity and heat and a dense outgrowth of plants.
The latest ruler of Almerac is Maxima. Young and headstrong, she ignored the various socio-economic problems in pursuit of a worthy mate. Unable to find a prospective husband, she was enamored by Superman and teleported to Earth to wed him. Meanwhile, one of her suitors, De'Cine overthrew the Royal House and took over. Superman and Maxima were able to restore order. Maxima vowed to rule her people justly but right after Superman left, Lobo stormed Tae Tamrac in search of De'Cine.
