Seduction of the Innocent, later referred to as The Innocent Seduced, was a 1954 book written by the child psychologist Dr. Fredric Wertham. Wertham posited that comic books were a bad influence on children and contributed to juvenile delinquency. Ultimately, the book helped establish the Comics Code Authority, in which publishers self-censored their books. He primarily focused on detective, horror, and superhero comics for their depiction of violence, sex, and drugs visible or implied. In the 21st century, the book was used by Glorious Godfrey as evidence to denounce the Justice League. He quoted the passage, "Some children who admire these overpumped super heroes do poorly in school, quarrel with their siblings, and refuse to eat their vegetables."
