Superman Signal Watch

Back to Objects Main > Superman Signal Watch

Real Identity: Not Applicable
Appearances (STAS): Superman's Pal and Fish Story
Appearances (JL/U): Secret Origins Part One and Question Authority
Powers/Skills: Hypersonic Generation
Voiced By: Not Applicable

Concerned with his knack for getting into dangerous situations, Superman created a special wristwatch for Jimmy Olsen and he wore it at all times. The watch works by emitting a high frequency hypersonic signal that Superman could pick up with his enhanced senses rather rely on luck and being in the same area. It is used exclusively when Olsen feels like his life is in danger. One such instant was when Aquaman's summoned animals attacked Bibbo's ship with Lois Lane and Olsen aboard.

Superman also gave a second Signal Watch to Batman after they encountered advance agents of the Imperium at a WayneTech Sub-Station outside Metropolis. Batman kept it in his utility belt. Six months later, while investigating the agents, Batman was knocked unconscious by an attack dog. He activated the Signal Watch before passing out completely. Just as Superman arrived to find Batman, the invasion force of the Imperium began to touch down. Years later, Huntress kidnapped Olsen and used his Signal Watch to summon Superman since she was no longer with the Justice League and lacked a communication link. She noted how it also kept good time.
