When Superman had to go off planet for missions, he always programmed a few robots, in his likeness, to patrol Metropolis and Earth. To the seasoned observer, their monotone voice and stiff posture are dead giveaways. After being absent for a month, Supergirl operated out of the Fortress of Solitude and operated the Superman Robots through a glove interface. Lex Luthor realized the deception and scrambled one of the robots. Supergirl retrieved the robot and destroyed Luthor's device.

On a parallel Earth, the Justice Lord Superman also employs robots to watch over Earth. A few are kept in reserve in specific places such as Arkham Asylum. If the incorrect Justice Lord says the password, the Joker activates the robots. The Justice League sans Batman fought against them while trying to save Hawkgirl. Like their Superman, the Lords Superman Robots also suffered from monotone voices and rigid posture. 50 years later, Superman still uses robots and their appearance was also changed to match his new costume and age.
