In the 17th century, Antonio Stradivari manufactured violins that were known to produce a unique sound. The wood he used in the fabrication process included spruce for the harmonic top, willow for the internal parts, and maple for the back, strip and neck. It is also notable that Stradivari used an inner form for shaping it. Eventually, the Stradivarius name became synonymous with excellence. In the modern age, those made from 1690 to 1700 are worth at least hundreds of thousands of dollars while those made in 1700 to 1720 are worth millions. Fewer than 700 are known to be currently in existence.
In a parallel universe, the Stradivarius also exists and is also a valuable artifact. During a mental construct created by Ray Thompson, the Music Master stole the Stradivarius from the Seaboard City Music Center. Green Lantern used his power ring to steal the instrument back at the last minute. He was soon mistaken by the Justice Guild of America to be the Stradivarius' thief. Once the mishap was cleared up, the Stradivarius was returned to the Music Center. However, due to Thompson's act, it appears the Stradivarius was one of many things to be destroyed by nuclear warfare.
