When Jesus Christ was crucified, as a method of verifying his death, a Roman centurion named Longinus was ordered to stab Christ's side with his spear. With humble beginnings in Golgotha, the simple weapon became known as the Spear of Longinus and was said to have mystical power. Those who wield it shall be victorious in every battle. During the career, the Blackhawk Squadron confiscated the Spear and locked it away in a vault in their Victory Museum on Blackhawk Island. In the 21st century, Grodd ordered Lex Luthor to steal it in order to prove his mettle and obtain a piece of Brainiac. After overcoming the Island's defenses and escaping a unit from the Justice League, Luthor returned to the Citadel of Doom with the Spear. When asked what he planned to do with it, Grodd simply replied it was a knick-knack for his office. It is believed to be destroyed after the resurrection of Darkseid.
