The Parthenon is a temple constructed from 447 B.C. to 432 B.C. on Athens, Greece in honor of the goddess, Athena. Built on limestone foundation in the Acropolis, the sculptor Phidias and architects Iktinos and Kallikrates were credited with supervising the Parthenon's construction. It is believed that stone materials were transported a distance of 16 kilometers. The Parthenon was regarded as the finest example of classic Greek architecture due to its columns and converging lines. In 439 B.C., Phidias sculpted a cult statue of Athena for the temple. For centuries, it served as a treasury. In the 6th century, the Parthenon was turned into a Christian church mainly dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Then in 1456, the Ottoman Turks took over and the temple became a mosque. Unlike the previous occupants, the Turks went to greater lengths to preserve the antiquities within the Parthenon. As the Ottoman Empire weakened, British and French took sculptures and other stones under the pretense of using it for replicas.

Since then, objects related to the Parthenon have appeared in the Louvre in Paris and other museums in Europe. The Greek government has petitioned for decades to have these items returned. Meanwhile, stabilizing pins and new marble are being added to the Parthenon to preserve it. In the 2050's, Chronos stole the Parthenon and placed it in Neo Gotham among other landmarks and artifacts. Warhawk suspected the Parthenon could have been where Chronos slept at night but it was later revealed to be the Roman Coliseum. After Batman reset the timeline, the Parthenon was returned to its rightful place and time and along with everything and everyone else.
