Upon hearing of A.M.A.Z.O.'s return to Earth, Lex Luthor fled to a special underground bunker armed with Kryptonite-lined tunnels and a massive cannon. The Atom appeared to Luthor with the A.M.A.Z.O.'s original blueprints and together they went to work to converting the cannon into a Nano Disassembler Gun. Heisenberg Compensators would give it the ability to circumvent the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, which states that one cannot know both the position of a subatomic particle and its momentum to arbitrary precision. Thus, the gun would be able to compensate for its inability to determine both the position and momentum of the target particles (nanotechnology, in this case) to the same degree of accuracy. Another crucial modification was for Drexler lines, allowing the gun to disassemble the nanotechnology within A.M.A.Z.O.. Just as it arrived, the Nano Disassembler was complete. However, they discovered A.M.A.Z.O. evolved further than their assumptions and was no longer nanotech.

Instead, Luthor was forced to reason with it as the Justice League and Green Lantern Corps neared. After it agreed to go with Dr. Fate, the Nano Disassembler Gun was confiscated by the League and housed in the Watchtower's High Security Storage Room. Lex Luthor memorized how to recreate the device and relayed the information to Project Cadmus. They then constructed a miniaturized version that can be held as a typical gun. After Professor Hamilton realized Luthor was out to build a second A.M.A.Z.O. to inhabit, Amanda Waller confronted him at LexCorp and destroyed the body with a Nano Disassembler.
