The Lexo-Skel 5000 is a weapons system prototype developed by LexCorp for a $1 billion. Essentially, it is a heavy armor exoskeleton that houses one pilot. It comes equipped with a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, rocket thruster propulsion, electrokinesis, rail gun, machine gun, and flame thrower. It is the equivalent of one modern day armored division and advertised as an end all solution to warfare. Unable to make up the expense, Lex Luthor secretly made a deal with the Regent of Kaznia. During a public relations event, the Regent's terrorist squad would arrive and steal it. Fearing military advantage, the Pentagon would then order an army of Lexo-Skels and earn Luthor larger profits.

Clark Kent deduced this outcome which amused Lex Luthor. Based on this, Lois Lane sought out a docked Kaznian ship which was where the Lexo-Skel was stored. While looking through some of Jimmy Olsen's photographs, Kent saw the Kaznian flag on this ship and confronted its inhabitants as Superman. Corben activated the exoskeleton and the fight soon detoured into Metropolis. Superman eventually crippled the suit and tore Corben out for the police. While a representative of the Regent demanded a refund from Luthor, Superman declared his investigation of Luthor was opened. Some time later, Maxima of Almerac viewed footage of Superman in action, including his battle with the Lexo-Skel 5000.
